24th January: What to do?

Since 4pm yesterday, my mind has been churning. I have ten days before my job offer expires, but my temporary visa application might take another 45 days to be granted. If that's the case, not only will I lose the job offer I have, but it will be another 6 weeks before I can work anywhere. I start thinking about bringing forward my aspirations for a helicopter licence. I visit Helipro in Wellington again, to get more information. I ring Wanaka helicopters. I figure out how long my money will last, and I decide I might just be able to at least get my private pilot's licence. There's no way I can afford the full commercial training.

I go to the Immigration Office, but I don't have any luck. They can only tell me that the normal timeframes are 20 to 30 days, but they quote 45 days as the maximum. There's nobody I can speak to.

So my mind churns for the rest of the day.
